However I can see no legitimate reason why a fairly static utility such as a partition manager would warrant reoccurring payment certainly no more than your average word processor, database program, or third-party file manager.
I use a number of web-based apps and services that I pay for on a monthly or yearly basis because they provide an ongoing service, and these services are updated and upgraded regularly. Anti-virus/anti-malware software requires ongoing R&D and enjoys frequent, sometimes even daily, updates. I have never been one to whine about subscription-based pricing models-when it makes sense. But I've recommended this very good program countless times over the years, and for anyone who spends a modicum of time upgrading or building computers, upgrading disk drives, hacking/modding mobile phone ROM's, etc., I used to wholeheartedly proclaim that for such a useful tool, it's money well-spent.īut that was before they moved to this lamentable and obnoxious subscription-based purchase scheme. As a long-time user of MPW Pro (purchased over 7 years ago), I personally have no need of today's giveaway.
